What we do - Vegetation

Vegetation

We look after a wide range of vegetation including highways trees and grass verges.

Vegetation management is part of our regular maintenance activities and includes:

  • Pruning vegetation on highways land to prevent obstructions or safety issues
  • Pruning vegetation to maintain visibility, for example at junctions, and prevent them obscuring road signs, street lighting and other services equipment such as CCTV cameras
  • Removal of dead, diseased or dieing highways trees to pose tree health or public safety risks.
  • Highway verge grass cutting and weed spraying

If a private tree is overgrown and causing a problem to the highway, our Highway Steward will inspect and assess the impact being caused. We can take a range of actions from issuing a responsibilities letter, a tree cutting notice, formal notice or arranging for emergency works to be carried out. We can also pass this to our enforcement team for action can be taken if our requests aren’t complied with.

Unfortunately, we cannot assist with private trees overhanging other private properties.
