We've completed improvement works to the twitten between St Anne's Close and St Peter's Crescent, Bexhill, replacing an ageing footbridge and restoring the pedestrian route.
The original timber bridge was installed around 25 years ago after part of the footpath collapsed, believed to have been caused by badger activity beneath the path. Following confirmation that badgers were no longer using the area, we were able to safely remove the bridge and permanently reconstruct the footpath.
The works included building a new retaining wall, filling historic excavations beneath the path and installing a reinforced concrete structure to provide a stable and long-lasting route for pedestrians.
Thank you to residents and pedestrians for their patience while the twitten was closed and a diversion route was in place. The completed scheme has improved access through the area and provides increased security for neighbouring properties.
