To improve accessibility in Eastbourne Town Centre, we’ve been working with an external partner, CU Phosco, to introduce new street lighting columns.
Along Terminus Road in Eastbourne, these upgraded columns feature high-visibility yellow bands at different heights - helping people with visual impairments spot them more easily, during both brighter days and darker evenings.
The design was shaped through conversations with local accessibility groups, including East Sussex Vision Support, making sure real experiences helped guide the solution.
It’s a small change that can make a big difference - helping people feel more confident and safer as they move through busy public spaces.
