Grass cutting at the A22

You might have spotted our teams out on the A22 recently. Grass cutting is more than just mowing – it’s a carefully planned operation to keep the road network safe and clear.

Here’s what goes on behind the scenes

  • Once traffic management is in place, a team heads in first to remove larger debris from the verges
  •  Tractors and mowers then follow, with operatives close behind trimming edges and hard-to-reach areas
  • Road sweepers finish the job, with a final litter pick to leave the area clear and tidy

While we were on site, the team also spotted and replaced missing manhole covers on the same day – making the most of the lane closure to carry out additional safety repairs.

We also worked alongside our road colleagues to install a new dual carriageway sign near the care home between Eagles and Cop Hall roundabouts, helping prevent drivers from accidentally turning into oncoming traffic.

It’s a real team effort to keep the network safe – thanks for your patience while these works were carried out.
