A programme of traffic signal upgrades has recently been completed across key junctions on the Ring Road in Newhaven, helping to keep traffic moving smoothly through this busy part of the town.
To minimise disruption the works were carried out using temporary traffic lights and short‑term lane closures, ensuring routes remained open while teams could work safely and efficiently.
The project focused on modernising the traffic signal equipment replacing old control boxes with the latest technology to improve reliability and traffic flow. Vegetation was also cleared to improve visibility and safety around the junctions.
These improvements were carried out as part of our ongoing commitment to keep the highway network safe and accessible for everyone, as well as supporting more consistent public transport links, helping buses maintain consistent journey times.
We thank all Newhaven residents, businesses and road users for their patience and understanding whilst these improvements were carried out, enabling long‑term benefits for the Newhaven area.
