We recently completed bridge parapet repairs along Blackbrook Lane in Chailey.
An errant vehicle had damaged the brickwork parapet, causing half of the wall to collapse and leaving a significant unprotected drop above the watercourse below.
A scaffold platform was used to safely access the bridge’s elevation and rebuild the parapet, and while on site we removed the damaged brickwork from the river to prevent any future flooding in the area. Due to wet weather, the brickwork could not be repainted with black and white stripes, but four reflective verge marker posts were installed around the structure to ensure visibility is maintained.
We took advantage of the road closure by replacing the white timber post and rail fencing to the north of the bridge in the west verge. General vegetation clearance was undertaken around the structure as well as some minor brickwork repairs to the opposite parapet.
