A once-forgotten underpass in Lewes has been brought to life with a vibrant mural celebrating the River Ouse and local biodiversity.
The artwork was created by residents aged 17 to 74, working alongside professional artists to bring colour, creativity, and community spirit to the space. The design reflects over 100 submissions from local people, all calling for nature to take centre stage in the project.
Led by U CAN Spray and supported by SAIL, Culture Shift, and local funders, the initiative blends street art with civic pride, turning a neglected area into a welcoming and inspiring landmark.
We’re proud to have supported this project — and similar efforts in Hailsham and Shinewater — by providing equipment and materials to help bring these community visions to life.
These creative collaborations are part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local spaces and encouraging community-led improvements that make a lasting impact.
