Our latest scheduled maintenance closure at the Cuilfail Tunnel, Lewes has now been completed, with teams successfully carrying out the tunnel's quarterly clean.
The tunnel is cleaned four times a year, in March, June, September and December, as part of an ongoing programme of essential maintenance. These closures allow teams to thoroughly clean the tunnel, as well as inspect and service key lighting and safety systems to help keep the route operating safely and reliably.
During the latest closure, the opportunity was also taken to complete an inspection of the nearby bridge close to Southerham Roundabout, helping to make the most of the planned traffic management and minimise future disruption.
