While out on site, one of our teams spotted a young deer curled up at the roadside.
Concerned for its welfare, they contacted local wildlife charities for advice and kept a safe distance while monitoring the situation.
Thankfully, it appeared unharmed and slowly made its way back towards the surrounding countryside.
It's a lovely reminder that our teams don't just look after East Sussex's roads and infrastructure – they are always mindful of the wildlife that shares our county too.
Well done to the team for taking the right approach and helping ensure this story had a happy ending.
