At East Sussex Highways, we’re committed to reducing carbon emissions, improving resource efficiency and exploring innovative ways of delivering services that support our Net Zero ambitions. Carbon reduction is one of our long-term objectives. By integrating environmental considerations into day-to-day operations, we're helping to create a highway network that is more resilient, resource efficient and fit for the future.
Our Building New Futures sustainability strategy sets ambitious targets for 2030 and beyond, focusing on reducing emissions, improving efficiency and creating positive social value. Achieving Net Zero will require action across operations, supply chains and the wider construction industry.
We've strengthened our approach to carbon management by improving the way we measure and report emissions and working with our supply chain to improve sustainability data. These foundations are critical to understanding where our impacts lie and where meaningful reductions can be achieved. Through the development of carbon management plans, environmental improvement initiatives and the promotion of lower-carbon alternatives, we're ensuring that sustainability is considered throughout the lifecycle of projects, from planning and design through to delivery and maintenance.
Innovation continues to play a key role in this journey. Whether exploring lower-carbon materials, championing nature-positive solutions, improving waste management processes or identifying opportunities to design carbon out of schemes from the outset, we are constantly looking for smarter ways to deliver value while reducing environmental impact.
