What are highways improvement schemes?
Highways improvement schemes are where we invest money available to replace worn out elements of the network, returning them to a new condition.
Examples of improvement schemes include:
- renewing the surface of the carriageway (resurfacing/surface dressing)
- replacing parts of highway infrastructure e.g. drainage pipework.
These works will have long-term benefits for East Sussex’s highways because it will extend the life of that part of the network and better protect it from future damage.
