Map of works area and diversion route
Further to our previous letter, dated 26 March, we are writing to inform you that we will be returning to Westville Road, Bexhill in the coming weeks. We appolgise that this has taken longer than expected. We will be carrying out footway and carriageway works in the area.
When do they start?
Work will be carried out from Monday 12 August 2024 to Wednesday 18 September 2024 between 7am and 7pm.
We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.
We will be closing short, localised areas of the road whilst the surface is being excavated, repaired and reinstated. Barriers will be left in place until the material has cured, in some instances this may be overnight.
What does the work involve?
These works include targeted concrete carriageway repairs and other follow up works, such as:
- adjustments to ironworks, including manholes and drainage gullies
- repairs or replacement to kerbing
- replacement of road markings
Once work is completed, the carriageway surface will be a concrete finish and no tarmac surface will be relayed. This will improve the durability of the carriageway and reduce the need for future repairs.
How will this impact highway users?
The team will be working between the junctions with B2098 and Cranston Avenue.
Access to the road will be restricted in certain areas for residents. Traffic will be diverted via Cranston Avenue, Colebrooke Road, Collington Avenue and vice versa.
If you need vehicle access, please discuss this with the team on site. Please bear in mind, there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
