Map of works area

Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out carriageway works on The Slade and Cousley Wood Road, Wadhurst.

When do they start?

Works will be carried out on Thursday 11 June and Friday 12 June 2026, between 8pm and 6am. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

The work involves targeted carriageway patching and clearing the leaves, silt and debris from the drains.

How will this impact highway users?

We will be working between the junctions of Monks Lane and Hoghole Lane.

Access will be restricted to residents while we are working, with traffic diverted via B2100, A21, B2087, B2099, B2100 and vice versa. The traffic management will be removed each day when our works have finished. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

For safety, access to properties within the works area will be limited and managed during our working hours. If you need access, please speak to the team on site, as arrangements and routes may change as work progresses.

Please bare in mind, there could also be a delay while the area is made safe for you to pass and your vehicle may be escorted by site marshalls. This is for properties with direct access within the closure area only and there will be no through route.

Please be polite and respectful to the site teams, they are working to keep everyone safe.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
