Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out drainage and carriageway repairs on Lower High Street, Moseham Hill, Ticehurst Road & Shovers Green, Wadhurst.

When do they start?

Works will be carried out from Monday 28 July to Tuesday 5 August 2025 between 7am to 7pm, with no weekend working. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

These works involve repairs to the drainage system and replacing damaged pipes, installing new gullies as well as root cutting to clear the drainage system of any blockages.

We will also be carrying out maintenance on the carriageway, which includes patching damaged areas and applying a layer of coloured, high-friction surface (HFS) material to certain sections to reduce the risk of skidding.

How will this impact highway users?

The team will be working between the junctions of Church Street and Stonegate Road.

Access will be restricted to residents while we are working, with traffic diverted via the B2099, B2100, B2169, A21, B2087, B2099 and vice versa. The traffic management will be removed when the works are finished each day.

If you need vehicle access, please approach the closure point and speak to the site team. This is for access only and there will be no through route. There may be a slight delay while we make it safe for you to pass, and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Waste collection: Access will be granted for waste collection.

Public Transport: A shuttle bus has been arranged.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
