A map showing the footway reconstruction extent in Lewes Road, Blackboys
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out footway reconstruction and other associated works on Lewes Road, Blackboys.
The other associated works will include drainage works, ironwork and granite sett adjustments.
What are we doing?
Work will start on Monday 19 June 2023 and continue until Friday 25 August 2023 in the following phases:
Phase 1: Monday 19 June to Friday 30 June - Work will be carried out on the Eastbound side between High Street and Brownings Farm.
Phase 2: Monday 3 July to Friday 4 August - Work will be carried out on Westbound side between Shippon Cottage and Hollow Lane junction.
Phase 3: Monday 7 August - Work will be carried out on Westbound side from Hollow Lane junction to opposite Ginkgos.
Phase 4: Tuesday 8 August to Friday 25 August - Work will be carried out on Eastbound side between Old Orchard and the junction with School Lane.
How will this impact highway users?
These sections of footway will be closed to pedestrians during the above dates.
There will be no weekend or bank holiday working and the road will remain open under temporary traffic signals. The traffic signals will be manually controlled during peak hours.
Information for residents and businesses
While works are taking place sections of the footway will be closed to pedestrians and temporary traffic lights will be installed to provide alternative pedestrian walkways.
Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
