Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out footway repairs on Kings Drive, Eastbourne.

We will be removing slab pavements and replacing them with flexible black tarmac which has a very smooth finish, removing trip hazards and reducing the need for future maintenance.

Other associated works will also be carried out, including tree stump removal, kerb and edging installation, vegetation clearance and ironwork adjustment.

When do they start?

Work will start on Friday 1 September and continue until Friday 24 November 2023 and be carried out between Decoy Drive and the Rodmill Roundabout.

The road will remain open with working hours being between 09:30am and 3pm. The works will begin from the Decoy Drive end. An alternative footway will be provided for pedestrians with the use of temporary traffic signals.

The team on site will be able to assist pedestrians and provide the most up to date information on the progress of the works.

Information for residents and businesses

While works are taking place sections of the footway will be closed to pedestrians and temporary traffic lights will be installed to provide alternative pedestrian walkways.

Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site, in phased sections to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favorable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the works may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
