Map showing extent of works area and diversion route
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out extensive carriageway and other associated works on Kings Drive, Eastbourne.
These works include resurfacing of the full width of the carriageway, along with:
- High friction surfacing and road markings,
- Kerb adjustments,
- Gully cleansing and adjustments,
- Tree stumping works.
When do they start?
Work will start on Monday 20 November 2023 and continue until Sunday 14 January 2024.
The works will be carried out in phases from Rodmill Drive roundabout and continue to the junction of Upper Avenue. The team on site will be able to provide the most up to date information on daily progress.
The road will be closed between 7pm and 6am during the works. There will be traffic management operatives on site manning the closure sections. Access will be restricted during these times and delays are to be expected.
A diversion route will be in place via Rodmill Drive, Willingdon Road, Upperton Road, The Avenue, Upper Avenue & vice versa.
Information for residents and businesses
During working hours, businesses and residents will have restricted access, please bear in mind delays are to be expected. This is to ensure your safety and the safety of our work force. Site personnel will be at hand to provide information and guidance.
If you need access during a closure, please discuss this with the team on site who will be happy to assist. We will endeavor to provide access for residents, where it is safe to do so. We will always allow access for emergency vehicles.
Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site, in phased sections to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All these works are subject to favorable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the works may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process. We will endeavor to complete all noisy activities by 11pm. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
