Balfour Beatty are working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out large scale carriageway patching to the existing surface in Kingfisher Drive, Eastbourne.

These works will also involve the replacement and/or adjustment of manhole covers and drainage gully lids, as well as replacement of roadmarkings.

Once completed, these works will help improve the condition of the road surface prior to surface dressing treatment in the future.

When do they start?

Work will carried out between Wednesday 3 April and Saturday 13 April. There are no plans for weekend working during these works.

We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

How will this impact highway users?

The team will be working between the junction of Sevenoaks Road and the junction of the B2191 Willingdon Drove.

This section of the road will be closed for the duration of the works however working times will vary:

Wednesday 3 – Friday 5 April - The team will be on site between 8am and 5pm.

Monday 8 – Friday 12 April – The team will be on site between 7pm and 6am.

Traffic will be diverted via Willingdon Drove, Sevenoaks Road & vice versa.

Work will begin at the junction of Sevenoaks Road and head North, to allow access for public transport to Langney Shopping Centre.

As the works progress, access for public transport will then be changed to allow entry to the shopping centre via Sevenoaks Road.

If you need vehicle access, please discuss this with the team on site. Please bear in mind there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
