Map of works area and diversion route
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out targeted carriageway patch repairs on Jury's Gap Road, Camber.
When do they start?
Works will be carried out from Thursday 30 October 2025 to Tuesday 4 November 2025, between 8am and 6pm. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.
What are we doing?
These works involve essential patch repairs which will help improve the overall condition of the carriageway.
How will this impact highway users?
We will be working between the Gate 3 entrance to Lydd Ranges Military School and approximately 50 metres before the county boundary. The road will be closed for 24 hours a day due to the extent of works required.
Access will be restricted to residents while we are working, with traffic diverted via Lydd Road, New Lydd Road, Camber Road, A259, B2075, Jury’s Gap Road and vice versa.
For access, please approach the closure point and speak to the site team. This is for access only and there will be no through route. There may be a short delay while we make it safe for you to pass, and your vehicle will be escorted by site marshals. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Bus service: No buses will be able to use this route for the duration of these works with public transport aware and are taking appropriate action.
Waste collection: Waste collections are on a Monday and they will not be able to be collect due to the road closure. This week is a recycling collection, if you require further information, please contact customer.services@rother.gov.uk or call 01424 787000.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
