After completing carriageway improvement works on Hoads Wood Road, Hastings, earlier this year, our inspections identified some areas that were not to our usual standards. We will therefore be returning to undertake further improvements and redo some sections of work to ensure the scheme achieves the quality residents and road users expect.
What are we doing?
Our work will also include further patch repairs, road markings and ironwork repairs to improve the overall condition of the carriageway.
How will this impact highway users?
We’ll be working between the junctions of Elphinstone Road and Pilot Road.
We'll start by carrying out kerbing works. The road will be open but there will be temporary 'give and take' traffic management in place from Monday 28 September to Wednesday 30 September 2026, between 7am and 7pm each day.
As some of this work will take place across driveway entrances, there may be short periods when access is temporarily restricted while materials set. If this affects your property, a member of our site team will visit before the work starts to explain the timings and ensure any vehicles can be moved beforehand. We will do all we can to keep any disruption to a minimum.
We’ll then be closing the road between Monday 5 October and Thursday 8 October 2026, 7am to 7pm each day. A signed diversion route in place via Elphinstone Road, The Ridge, and St Helen’s Down, and vice versa.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Public Transport: Local bus services have been informed of these works and will be diverted.
Waste collection: Access will be granted for any waste collection.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
