Map of works area
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out surveys of the footway on Hempstead Lane, Hailsham, to help us plan for possible future improvements.
These surveys will take place from Monday 6 October to Saturday 11 October 2025, between 7pm and 5am each night. Any changes to the dates or times will be displayed via advanced warning signs on site.
How will this impact highway users?
To minimise disruption, our works will take place within the SGN working area on Hempstead Lane, specifically between the junctions of Hedley Way and London Road. Please be assured that the road will remain open throughout the works, with temporary traffic lights operating on Hempstead Lane, Hawks Road, and London Road to help manage the flow of traffic.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
