Phase plan

Phase plan key

Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out carriageway improvements on Hawth Hill & Hawth Park Road, Seaford.

When do they start?

Works will be carried out from Monday 21 July to Wednesday 30 July 2025. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

The works involve targeted resurfacing and repairs to the carriageway to improve the overall carriageway condition.

How will this impact highway users?

The team will be working from the junction of Marine Parade and on specific sections of Hawth Hill & Hawth Park Road (illustrated at the top of this page). No works will be undertaken on Hawth Crescent or from Hawth Grove to approximately Number 36, as these areas are in better condition. Parking restrictions will be in place 24/7 where resurfacing occurs. Alternative on-street parking is advised between Hawth Grove and Number 36 as we cannot reserve spaces. Hawth Hill and Hawth Park cul-de-sac access will be maintained where possible, but delays may occur. Main access routes will be prioritised at night and temporary ramps will be installed for driveways/ironworks where safe.

We will be working in the below phases:

Phase 1- Monday 21 July – working hours 7pm to 6am, with temporary traffic lights on Marine Parade.

Phase 2- Tuesday 22 July to Monday 28 July – working hours 8am to 6pm.

Phase 3- Tuesday 29 July - working hours 7pm to 6am, with temporary traffic lights on Marine Parade.

We will provide access wherever it is safe to do so; however, please note that access will be significantly restricted during the works. To avoid inconvenience, we recommend parking away from the works area if you require unrestricted vehicle access. Please be aware that access will be particularly limited during the daytime surfacing works on 28 July 2025 and the overnight works on 29 July 2025.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Waste collection: Access will be granted for any waste collection.

Public Transport: Four services will be accommodated during the works during the day – the 9am, 11am, 1pm and 5pm services. On Monday 28 July we will only be able to accommodate 9am and 5pm so we can complete parts of the surfacing.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
