Map of works area
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out targeted patching and drainage repairs on Hastingsford Lane and Five Chimneys Lane, Hadlow Down.
When do they start?
Works will be carried out from Thursday 30 January to Wednesday 5 February 2025 between 7am and 7pm.
We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.
What are we doing?
These works involve essential carriageway repairs to improve the overall carriageway condition. The team will also be replacing and adjusting drains, root cutting, kerbing and refreshing road markings.
These works are being carried out ahead of the county wide surface treatment programme which is due to begin later in the year. Once the programme has been confirmed, we will provide effected residents with further information.
How will this impact highway users?
The team will be working at two locatiions whilst these works are carried out. We will be starting in Hastingsford Lane and then moving onto Five Chimneys Lane.
Thursday 30 January – Friday 31 January - Hastingsford Lane : Between Fordbrook Hill and Stockland Lane.
Thursday 30 January – Wednesday 5 February - Five Chimneys Lane: Between School Lane and the junction of the A272.
Access to these roads will be restricted for residents for the duration of works.
Traffic will be diverted via School Lane, A272 , Hurstwood Road, Chillies Lane, A26, Sheep Plain, Hurtis Hill, Fermor Road, Walshes Road, Hadlow Down Road, Hastingsford Lane and vice versa.
If you need vehicle access to your property, please discuss this with the team on site. Please bear in mind there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshals. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Waste collection: Access will be granted for any waste collection.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
