Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out targeted patching, footway and drainage repairs on Hartfield Road, Forest Row.

When do they start?

Works will be carried out from Monday 10 March to Sunday 6 April 2025.

We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

These works involve essential repairs to improve the overall carriageway condition. Whilst on site, the team will also be replacing and adjusting drains, repairing kerbing and refreshing road markings.

These works are being carried out ahead of the county wide surface treatment programme which is due to begin later in the year. Once the programme has been confirmed, we will provide effected residents with further information.

How will this impact highway users?

The team will be carrying out these works in stages:.

Carriageway works – This will be carried out between the junctions of Park Crescent and Ryst Wood Road from 8pm and 6am.

Footway works – This will be carried out between the junctions of Park Crescent and Crown Wood from 8am and 5pm. These works will be undertaken with temporary traffic signals in place and the road will be open.

Access to the road will be restricted for residents for the duration of the carriageway works.

Traffic will be diverted via Hartfield Road, A22, Straight Half Mile, B2026, B2110 and vice versa.

If you need vehicle access to your property, please discuss this with the team on site. Please bear in mind there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshals. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Waste collection: Access will be granted for any waste collection.

Public Transport: Local bus services have been informed of these works and will be diverted from 8pm.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
