Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carring out carriageway repairs on Hammer Hill, Church Road and Ponts Green, Ashburnham.

These works are being carried out ahead of the county wide surface treatment programme which is due to begin later in the year. Once the programme has been confirmed, we will provide effected residents with further information

When do they start?

Work will be carried out from Monday 10 March to Friday 4 April 2025 between 7am and 7pm.

We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

These works involve targeted carriageway repairs with drain repairs and adjustments where needed.

Please see below for the phasing plan of these works.

How will this impact highway users?

The team will be working from the junction of the A271 to the junction of Farthing Lane.

Access to the road will be restricted for residents whilst the works take place.

Traffic will be diverted via Herrings Road, Bluekiln Lane, The Causeway, Victoria Road, A271 and vice versa.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Waste collection: Access to the closure will be granted for any waste collection.

Public Transport: Local bus services have been informed of these works and will be diverted. School buses will be allowed access for the duration of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
