Further to our previous letter, dated 14 October 2024, we are writing to inform you that we will be returning to Fuller Road, Lewes to carry out remedial works.

Once work is completed, carriageway surfaces will be left as concrete finish, and no tarmac surface will be relayed. This will improve the durability of the road.

When does work restart?

Work will be carried out on Thursday 20 February and Friday 21 February 2025 between 7am and 7pm.

We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

Due to an unsatisfactory finish, we are returning to to rectify the jointing in the area.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we can assure you that we always intend to deliver right first time. These remedial works will be carried out at no cost to the taxpayer.

Thes works include kerbing and footway repairs, removing the existing asphalt overlay from concrete bays, joint repairs and targeted concrete repairs. We will also be carrying out adjustments to the ironworks, including manholes and drainage gullies.

How will this impact highway users?

Access to the road will be restricted for the duration of the works. The team will be working from the junction of Church Road to the junction of Haywards Road.

If you need vehicle access, please discuss this with the team on site. Please bear in mind there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Waste collection: Access will be maintained for waste collection.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
