Further to our previous letter, dated 1 October 2024, we are writing to inform you that we will be returning to carry out further carriageway and footway repairs on Evelyn Road, Lewes.

When do they start?

Works will be carried out from Monday 17 February to Friday 21 February 2025 between 7am and 7pm.

We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

Due to an unsatisfactory finish, we are returning to to rectify the jointing in the area

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and we can assure you that we always intend to deliver right first time. These remedial works will be carried out at no cost to the taxpayer.

Once work is completed, the carriageway surface will be left as a concrete finish, and no tarmac surface will be relayed. This will improve the durability of the road.

How will this impact highway users?

There will be a localised road closure between the hours of 8am and 5pm, with some areas of the carriageway may need to be barriered off for 24 hours whilst materials cure. Traffic will be diverted via Eridge Green and vice versa.

If you do need vehicle access to your property, we ask that you please discuss this with the team on site. Please bear in mind, there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshals. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
