What works are taking place?
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing and other associated works on Ersham Road, Hailsham.
The other associated works will include gully and kerb adjustments.
When do they start?
Work will start on Monday 3 July and continue until Friday 14 July 2023.
We will be working between the junction with South Road and the entrance to Hailsham Cemetery.
How will this impact highway users?
Monday 3 July – Friday 7 July – Two-way temporary traffic signals will be in place between 7am and 7pm whilst associated works are carried out, such as gully adjustments and kerbing.
Monday 10 July – Friday 14 July – Ersham Road will be closed to through traffic between 7pm and 5am whilst surfacing works are completed.
There are no plans for weekend working during these dates. If you need vehicle access, please discuss this with the team on site to see if this is possible. Please bear in mind there will be delays whilst the area is made safe.
Access for pedestrians and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Traffic will be diverted via the B2104 Hailsham Road, B2247 Dittons Road, A27 Polegate Bypass, A22 Hailsham Bypass and vice versa.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
