Enys Road, Eastbourne - Carriageway Patching

Balfour Beatty are working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out large scale carriageway patching to the existing surface in Enys Road, Eastbourne.

These works will also involve the replacement and/or adjustment of manhole covers and drainage gully lids, as well as replacement of roadmarkings.

Once completed, these works will help improve the condition of the road surface prior to surface dressing treatment in the future.

When do they start?

Work will carried out on Thursday 21 March and Wednesday 3 April. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

How will this impact highway users?

The team will be working between the end of Enys Road to the junction with the A2021 Lewes Road. The road will be closed between 8am and 5pm.

There will be no weekend or bank holiday working.

The road will be closed in the below phases to minimise disruption to residents:

  • Thursday 21 & Friday 22 March – From the junction of St Anne’s Road, to the Western end of  Enys Road.
  • Monday 25 to Wednesday 27 March – From the junction of St Anne’s Road, to the junction of Carew Road.
  • Thursday 28 March to Wednesday 3 April – From the juncrtion of Carew Road, to the junction of the A2021.

If you need vehicle access, please discuss this with the team on site. Please bear in mind there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls. During these works, we do ask that residents park elsewhere to reduce delays to the works programme.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Access for residents:  Access for residents not be affected by our works but there maybe some delays if the works are across entranceways.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
