Map of works area and diversion route
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this we will be installing new signs, lining and high friction surfacing (known as HFS) to the carriageway.
When do they start?
The work be will carried out from Thursday 7 May 2026 to Friday 8 May 2026 between 8pm and 6am each night. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.
How will this impact highway users?
We’ll be working between Pacific Drive and Timberlaine Road.
The road will be closed to through traffic with a divertion route in place via Pevensey Bay Road, Wallsend Road, Bexhill Road, A27, A22, Lottbridge Drove, St Anthony’s Avenue, Pevensey Bay Road and vice versa.
If you need vehicle access, please speak with the team on site. Please be aware, there may be a delay while we make the area safe, and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls. There will be no through route for vehicles.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Information for residents and businesses
Public transport: Arrangements wil be made for the 99 service up until 9pm, after this time all buses will be on the diversion route.
Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
