Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out surveys of the drainage system on Diplocks Way, George Street and Western Road, Hailsham, to help us plan for possible future improvements.
When is this taking place?
These surveys will take place from Thursday 2 October to Friday 17 October 2025. Any changes to the dates or times will be displayed via advanced warning signs on site.
How will this impact highway users?
We will be carrying out the surveys in phases.
- Thursday 2 October to Saturday 4 October: there will be temporary traffic lights on Diplocks Way at the roundabout with Gleneagles Drive, from 7pm to 11pm each evening.
- Monday 6 October to Saturday 11 October: a lane will be closed, and temporary traffic lights will be in place on George Street at the junction with Station Road, from 7pm to 11pm each evening.
- Monday 13 October to Friday 17 October: temporary traffic lights will be on Western Road at the junction with the B2104 from 9:30am to 4pm each day. There will also be parking suspension in place, please avoid parking in this area as it will delay our works.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
