Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out carriageway surfacing works in Crowborough Hill, Crowborough.

Once completed, these works will improve the condition of the road surface.

What are we doing?

Some interim pothole repairs were conducted last year to address the immediate safety issues, however, we now plan to carry out road resurfacing works to Crowborough Hill. The team will be working between the Croft Road junction to the crossing by the Well House Vets and will also be repairing the Westbound carriageway in the Church Road junction.

As part of this Highway Maintenance Scheme, we will be carrying out repairs to some of the kerbs, granite setts, drainage assets and inspection chamber covers. We will also be refreshing/replacing the road markings, including the ‘School’ markings, and High Friction Surfacing on the Pedestrian crossings and approaches to junctions/roundabouts.

When we will be doing the repairs?

The works are planned to be carried out between Monday 19 February and Saturday 16 March, under road closures from 7pm until 6am.

The closures will be phased to minimise disruption and we will inform you of these phases in due course. Information will be provided via our website and social media channels.

Vehicle access during the repairs

Access for residents will be maintained when it is safe to do so, however please liaise with the on-site team who will be able to provide up to date information on works progress, as access and egress routes on each night.

Please also liaise with the on-site team if you have any appointments or deliveries during this time.

Access to businesses will be maintained where possible, any affected businesses where this is not possible will be contacted directly and the works will be planned to not inhibit customer access and egress, unless prior agreement is in place.

Access for emergency vehicles will be provided at all times.
