Map showing location of works area and diversion route

Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out site investigation works in Church Road, Ashburnham.

What does the work involve?

The investigation involves trial holes and core holes being drilled at various points into the carriageway surface to allow for testing of the carriageway sub-surface. The results of these investigations will allow us to determine the condition of the carriageway and the extent of larger works which may be required later in the year.

When do they start?

Work will take place from Monday 1 July 2024 to Sunday 14 July 2024 between 7am and 7pm. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

How will this impact highway users?

Access to the area will be restricted during the works, however if you need vehicle access, please discuss this with the team on site. Please bear in mind, there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

A diversion route will be in place via Herring Road, Bluekiln Lane, North Road, The Causeway, Victoria Road, A271 & vice versa.

Information for residents and businesses

Buses: Buses will be provided access to the stop at the junction of Church Road and Linghams Lane.

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Waste Collection: During these works, any waste collection vehicles will be provided access to properties.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
