Map showing location of works area and diversion route
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out jointing repairs in Chestnut Walk, Bexhill.
Once completed, these works will improve the condition of the road surface and prevent water ingress. These works are being carried out with the view to undertake further surface treatment in the future which will provide a uniform road surface.
When do they start?
Thursday 15 February – Wednesday 28 February: Works include concrete bay repairs.
Thursday 7 March – Monday 11 March: Works included carriageway joint repairs, targeted patch repairs, ironwork adjustments, including manholes and drainage gullies.
We will be returning at a later date to refresh the roadmarkings in this location. We will inform you of the dates and times via advanced warning signs on site.
How will this impact highway users?
The road will be closed between the hours of 7am and 7pm to minise noise disruption. The team will be working between the junction of The Gorseway and the Little Common Roundabout.
Traffic will be diverted via The Gorseway, Cowdray Park Road, Peartree Lane & vice versa.
If you need vehicle access, please discuss this with the team on site to see if this is possible. Please bear in mind, there will be delays whilst the area is made safe and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may also experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
