Map showing location of works

Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out site investigation works in C296 Military Road, Rye.

What does the work involve?

The investigation involves trial holes and core holes being drilled at various points into the carriageway surface to allow for testing of the carriageway sub-surface. The results of these investigations will allow us to determine the condition of the carriageway and the extent of larger works which may be required later in the year.

When do they start?

Work will take place between Saturday 18 May and Sunday 19 May. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

How will this impact highway users?

The road will remain open to through traffic with signage in place. There may be some minor delays whilst machinery is being moved. The team will be onsite between 7am-7pm.

The works will start at Junction with Rye Hill and continue to Playten House.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
