Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out carriageway surfacing works in Bunny Lane, Frant.

Once completed, these works will improve the condition of the road surface.

When do they start?

Works will be carried out between Monday 18 March and Friday 26 April. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

As part of this Highway Maintenance Scheme, we will be carrying out carriageway strengthening and surfacing works including:

  • Kerbing replacements and adjustments,
  • Drainage asset improvements,
  • Inspection chamber covers,
  • Refreshment and replacement of the road markings and High Friction Surfacing.

How will this impact highway users?

The team will be working between the junction of the A26 Eridge Road and junction of the A267 Frant road.

The road will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the works however the team will be onsite between 7am and 7pm. Please be aware the road will remain closed over the weekend of 23-24 March and Easter Bank Holiday Weekend.

A diversion route will be in place via A26, Sheep Plain, Hurtis Hill, Fermor Road, Walshes Road, Western Road, B2100, B2101, A267 & vice versa.

Residents will be able to access properties during the works but will need to liaise with the on-site team to agree times, as well as access and egress routes at that time.

Please also liaise with the on-site team if you have any appointments or deliveries during this time.

Refuse collections will also be accommodated by agreement with the local collection team and access for emergency vehicles will be supported at all times.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
