When do they start?

Works will take place from Monday 2 March to Friday 24 April 2026. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What does the work involve?

These works involve footway and embankment repairs, requiring a crane to lift netted bags of stone into the watercourse. Earth has been washed away and requires replacement, as well as repairs to the footway.

How will this impact highway users?

We will be working from the junction of Arnside Road to opposite property number 19, with access restricted to residents whilst these works are taking place.

The road will be closed 24 hours each day, until it is safe to re-open the area to traffic. At this time, temporary traffic lights will be in place to allow further access. Traffic will be diverted via Bulverhythe Road, A259 and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained using the footpath due to the crane needing to use the road space. We ask residents in this area to use their driveways wherever possible please. There will be no through route for vehicles, until the temporary traffic lights are in place.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as we may need to tow your vehicle and it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Waste collection: For any waste collection, the bins will need to be taken on the footpath to the waste collection vehicles located outside the working location.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
