Map of works area and diversion route

Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. We will soon be carrying out work on the drainage system in Brightling Road, Robertsbridge.

When do they start?

Work will be carried out from Tuesday 22 April to Friday 2 May 2025 between 9:30am and 4pm on weekdays only.

We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

Our work will include root cutting in the drainage system, raising granite setts, repairing broken pipework and installing a new drainage gully to help alleviate flooding in the area.

How will this impact highway users?

We will be working from the junction of Willards Hill and continuing south-west for approximately 1100 metres to the property ‘Poplar Cottages’.

During this work, the road will be closed to general traffic with a 24 hour road closure in place but with access maintained for residents only.

A diversion route will be in place via Brightling Road, The Clappers, Northbridge Street, A21, A265, Bell Alley Road, King’s Hill Road, Brightling Road, and vice versa.

If you need vehicle access to your property, please approach the closure point and speak to the site team. There may be a short wait while the area is made safe for you to pass, and you will need to be escorted by site marshals. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Waste collection: Access will be granted for any waste collection.

Public Transport: Local bus services have been informed of these works and will be diverted

Properties close to the carriageway may notice some noise, flashing lights, or reversing sirens. We will do our utmost to keep this to a minimum.
