Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out parapet repairs on Bodle Street Road, Rushlake Green.

When do they start?

Works will take place from Monday 6 October to Friday 10 October 2025, between 8am and 4:30pm. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What does the work involve?

These works involve replacing the damaged parapet with new posts, fencing and painting to improve the overall condition. Also, a new concrete apron will be installed.

How will this impact highway users?

The team will be working outside the property ’Stream Farm’. Access will be restricted for residents whilst the work is taking place. The road will reopen when the works are completed each day.

Traffic will be diverted via Bodle Street Road, Rushlake Green, Cowbeech Road, Foul Mile, Cowbeech Road, Stunts Green, Chilsham Lane, White Horse Road, Bodle Street Road and vice versa.

If you need vehicle access, please approach the closure point and speak to the site team. This is for access only and there will be no through route. There may be a slight delay while we make it safe for you to pass, and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Waste collection: Access will be granted for any waste collection.

Public Transport: Local bus services have been informed of these works and will be diverted.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
