Map of works area and diversion route
We’ll soon be carrying out signage and lining works on the B2244, Robertsbridge.
When do they start?
Work be will be carried out from Monday 13 July 2026 to Wednesday 15 July 2026, 8pm – 6am.
We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.
How will this impact highway users?
We will be working between Hundred Acre Wood and Brede Lane in the following phases:
Phase 1 – Southern section (near Cripps Corner):
- Adjustment of an existing sign on the lower section south of Cripps Corner.
Phase 2 – Northern section works:
- Installation and completion of bollards at Compass Park industrial estate.
Phase 3 – Surfacing works (north of Compass Park industrial estate):
- Includes new surfacing and high friction surfacing (HFS).
The road will be closed to through traffic, with a signed diversion route in place via the A21, the A229 and vice versa.
For safety, access to properties within the works area will be limited and managed during our working hours. If you need access, please speak to the team on site, as arrangements and routes may change as work progresses.
Please bear in mind, there could also be a delay while the area is made safe for you to pass and your vehicle may be escorted by site marshalls. This is for properties with direct access within the closure area only and there will be no through route.
Please be polite and respectful to the site teams, they are working to keep everyone safe.
Information for residents and businesses
Bus Service: Local bus services have been informed of these works and will be diverted.
Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
