Map of works area and diversion route
Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out drainage and carriageway investigations on the B2095, Hooe.
What are we doing
We’ll soon be carrying out CCTV surveys of the underground drainage system. We will also be using high pressured water to clear the pipework. Finally, we will be drilling trial holes and core holes at various points in the road to allow for testing of the sub-surface. The results will allow us to determine the condition of the road and the extent of larger works which may be required later in the year.
When do they start?
Works will be carried out from Monday 1 June to Saturday 6 June 2026, 7pm - 6am, with no weekend working. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.
How will this impact highway users?
We’ll be working between between the junctions of the A269 and the A259.
Access will be restricted to residents while we are working, with traffic diverted via the A269, the A2690, the A259 and vice versa.
Should you need assistance during the works, please speak to the site team. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Public Transport: Local bus services have been informed of these works and will be diverted
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
