Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out carriageway works on the A275 London Road and Lewes Road, Danehill.

When do they start?

Work will be carried out from Monday 27 April to Saturday 2 May 2026, between 8pm and 6am. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

We'll soon be carrying out targeted carriageway patching and joint repairs. We will also be clearing leaves, silt and debris from the drains, in preparation for Surface Dressing planned for later on this year.

How will this impact highway users?

We will be working between the A22 and Cumnor House School. Access will be restricted to residents while we are working, with traffic diverted via the A272, the A22 & vice versa.

Should you need access, please approach the closure point and speak to the site team. This is for access only and there will be no through route. There may be a short delay while we make it safe for you to pass, and your vehicle will be escorted by site marshals.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Bus service: No buses will be able to use this route for the duration of these works and public transport are aware and are taking the appropriate action.

Waste collection: Waste collections are on a Monday and will not be able to be collected during this road closure.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
