Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out highway works on the A275, Lewes Road & London Road, Danehill

When do they start?

Work will be carried out from Monday 12 May to Wednesday 14 May 2025 between 8am and 4pm.

We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

These works involve road marking refreshments and the replacement of existing signage.

How will this impact highway users?

The team will be working between Freshfield Lane and Cunmor House School.

The road will remain open with temporary traffic lights in place whilst these works are completed.

For one night only, on Monday 12 May, the road will be closed between 8pm to 6am whilst we refresh the road markings and to install high friction surfacing (HFS).

Access to the road will be restricted for residents with traffic diverted via A275, A22, A272, A275 and vice versa.

If you need vehicle access, please approach the closure point and speak to the site team. This is for access only and there will be no through route. There may be a slight delay while we make it safe for you to pass, and your vehicle is escorted by site marshalls. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: We will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Public Transport: Local bus services have been informed of these works and will be diverted.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
