Map of works area

We'll soon be carrying out carriageway works on the A275 London Road and Lewes Road, Danehill. These works were rescheduled due to resource availability.

When do they start?

Work will be carried out from Monday 13 July to Saturday 18 July 2026, 8pm - 6am.

We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

What are we doing?

We'll soon be carrying out targeted carriageway patching and joint repairs. We will also be clearing leaves, silt and debris from the drains, in preparation for Surface Dressing planned for later on this year.

How will this impact highway users?

We will be working between the A22 and Cumnor House School. The road will be closed to through traffic, with a signed diversion route in place via the A272, the A22 & vice versa.

For safety, access to properties within the works area will be limited and managed during our working hours. If you need access, please speak to the team on site, as arrangements and routes may change as work progresses.

Please bear in mind, there could also be a delay while the area is made safe for you to pass and your vehicle may be escorted by site marshalls. This is for properties with direct access within the closure area only and there will be no through route.

Please be polite and respectful to the site teams, they are working to keep everyone safe.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Bus service: Any affected bus services have been informed and will be diverted.

Noise: Properties close to the carriageway may notice some noise, flashing lights, or reversing sirens. We will do our best to keep this to a minimum.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.

Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.

Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
