Map of works area
We’ll soon be carrying out carriageway works on the A275 Chailey Green Road, Chailey.
When do they start?
Work will be carried out from Monday 20 July to Saturday 1 August 2026, 8pm – 6am, week nights only.
We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.
What are we doing?
These works involve targeted carriageway patching and joint repairs. We will also be clearing leaves, silt and debris from the drains and repairing any ironwork. These works are in preparation for Surface Dressing planned for later on this year.
How will this impact highway users?
We will be working between Markstakes Lane and Cinder Hill.
The road will be closed to through traffic, with a signed diversion route in place via the A272, the A22, the A26, the A2029, the A277 and vice versa.
For safety, access to properties within the works area will be limited and managed during our working hours. If you need access, please speak to the team on site, as arrangements and routes may change as work progresses.
Please bare in mind, there could also be a delay while the area is made safe for you to pass and your vehicle may be escorted by site marshalls. This is for properties with direct access within the closure area only and there will be no through route.
Please be polite and respectful to the site teams, they are working to keep everyone safe.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Bus service: Local bus services have been informed of these works and will be diverted.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
