Map of works area
We’ll soon be carrying out investigation work, including trial holes and core holes, on the A272. The findings will help us understand the condition of the road beneath the surface and plan future improvement works.
When do they start?
Works will be carried out from Monday 16 November to Wednesday 25 November 2026, 8pm - 6am, week nights only.
Any changes to the dates or times will displayed on the site advanced warning signs.
How will this impact highway users?
We’ll be working between the junctions of Waghorns Lane and the A267.
The road will remain open with temporary traffic lights in place for the duration of the works.
Please be polite and respectful to the site teams, they are working to keep everyone safe.
Information for residents and businesses
Buses: Any affected bus services have been informed and will be diverted.
Noise: Properties close to the carriageway may notice some noise, flashing lights, or reversing sirens. We will do our best to keep this to a minimum.
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this work may cause, however this forms part of our continuing improvement for the East Sussex highway network. Should you have any concerns regarding these works, you can contact us at eshcomms@balfourbeatty.com.
Please let us know how we did by leaving feedback. Please note you will be redirected to the East Sussex County Council consultation website.
