We'll soon be returning to the A265 Heathfield Road, Burwash, to complete the remaining elements of our carriageway improvement works.
During our previous visit, an unexpected water leak within the work area meant we were unable to complete all planned activities. The remaining works will now take place between 8pm on Monday 5 October and 6am on Saturday 10 October 2026. Once complete, the scheme will improve the overall condition of the carriageway and help provide a smoother, safer journey for road users.
We will notify residents and road users of any changes to the programme via advance warning signs on site.
What are we doing?
The work will include further patch repairs in areas where previous water ingress affected the finished surface, along with adjustments to ironworks that could not be completed during our earlier visit. We'll also be refreshing road markings and replacing road studs where required, and applying a layer of coloured, high friction surface material (HFS) to the finished carriageway to reduce the risk of skidding.
How will this impact highway users?
The team will be working between the junctions of Willingford Lane and Batemans Lane.
The road will be closed to through traffic, with a signed diversion route in place via the A265, A21, A2100, A271, A267, A265 and vice versa. The traffic management will be removed each day when our works have finished.
For safety, access to properties within the works area will be limited and managed during our working hours. If you need access, please speak to the team on site, as arrangements and routes may change as work progresses.
Please bear in mind, there could also be a delay while the area is made safe for you to pass and your vehicle may be escorted by site marshalls. This is for properties with direct access within the closure area only and there will be no through route.
Please be polite and respectful to the site teams, they are working to keep everyone safe.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
