Balfour Beatty is working in partnership with East Sussex County Council to manage the highways service across East Sussex. As part of this, we will be carrying out site survey works on South Coast Road, Telscombe.

What does the work involve?

The surveys forms part of the preliminary design stage for the future introductions of new bus lanes.

The works will involve topographical surveys to map the existing kerblines, drainage and positions of street furniture and ground penetration radar surveys to map out underground utility services.

When do they start?

Work will take place between Monday 22 April and Friday 3 May. We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.

Works will take place from Monday 22 April to Thursday 25 April 8pm-5am and Monday 29 April to Thursday 2 May 8pm-5am.

There are no plans for weekend working or daytime working.

The survey works are non-evasive and will not generate noise. The survey works will start on the South Coast Road near the Highview Road junction working eastwards over the 8 nights to Central Avenue.

22 April - Two Way signals to the west of Highview Road

23 April  - Multi phase lights - Highview Road

24 April -  Multi phase lights - Broomfield Avenue

25 April -  Multi phase lights - Fairlight Avenue

29 April  - Two way signals - Fairlight Ave to Telscombe.

30 April  - Multi phase lights Telscombe/Sussex Way

1 May  - Two way signals Telscombe to Central Avenue

2 May - Multi phase lights Central Avenue

How will this impact highway users?

The road will remain open to through traffic at all times. Temporary traffic lights will operate while these works take place to protect the engineers carrying out these surveys.

Information for residents and businesses

Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.

Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
