Due to a burst water main on the A275, this scheme has been postponed and will now begin on Monday 7 September 2026.
Works will take place in phases between Crowborough Road and Hindleap Lane, with overnight road closures from 8pm to 6am on weeknights only.
Closure schedule
Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 September: full closure between Crowborough Road and Hindleap Lane, including the section up to the four-way traffic signals at the Hindleap Lane junction. Diversion route: the A264, A267, Bunny Lane and A26, and vice versa.
Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 September: full closure between the A275 and Crowborough Road. Diversion route: the A272 and A275, and vice versa.
Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 September: full closure between Crowborough Road and Hindleap Lane, including the section up to the four-way traffic signals at the Hindleap Lane junction. Diversion route: the A264, A267, Bunny Lane and A26, and vice versa.
Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 September: full closure between the A275 and Crowborough Road. Diversion route: the A272 and A275, and vice versa.
The scheme is due to be completed by 6am on Saturday 19 September 2026.
For safety, access to properties within the works area will be limited and managed during our working hours. If you need access, please speak to the team on site, as arrangements and routes may change as work progresses.
Buses will be allowed through the closure until 10.30pm each night.
We’ll soon be carrying out carriageway works on the A22 Millbrook Hill and Wych Cross, Nutley.
When do they start?
Work will be carried out from Monday 27 July to Saturday 19 September, 8pm – 6am, weeknights only, finishing at 6am on Saturday 19 September.
We will inform you of any changes to the dates or times via advanced warning signs on site.
What are we doing?
These works involve targeted carriageway patching to improve the overall condition of the road.
How will this impact highway users?
We will be working from Crowborough Road to Hindleap Lane.
The road will be closed to through traffic, with a signed diversion route in place via the A264, the A267, Bunny Lane, the A26 and vice versa.
A more detailed phasing plan will be communicated on our website in due course.

Please bear in mind, there could also be a delay while the area is made safe for you to pass, and your vehicle may be escorted by site marshalls. This is for properties with direct access within the closure area only and there will be no through route.
Please be polite and respectful to the site teams, they are working to keep everyone safe.
Information for residents and businesses
Parking: If required, we will put out ‘no parking’ signs and cones on the site to advise where parking is restricted. Please avoid parking in these locations as it will delay our works.
Weather: All of these works are subject to favourable weather conditions, for example heavy rain may affect the progress of the works.
Properties close to the carriageway may experience a temporary disturbance as this can be a noisy process and those properties may experience flashing lights and reversing sirens.
